Arcade parts purchased from Retro Active Arcade Ltd. come with a 30 day warranty. Some exclusions apply.
Defective Arcade Parts:
All returns will be subject to inspection upon arrival for any damages that may void warranty before a replacement will be sent out. Items deemed defective will be replaced.
Please see our Return, Refund and Warranty Policy Page for full details.
Non-Defective Arcade Parts:
All returns will be subject to inspection upon arrival for any damages that may void warranty before a replacement will be sent out.
Please see our Returns, Refund and Warranty Policy Page for full details.
If a package is returned or refused by the customer and it was not authorized for return by Retro Active Arcade, or it is outside of the 15 Day Return Window as outlined in our Returns on Non-Defective Arcade Parts Policy, we will deem the package and contents abandoned and the items will not be eligible for a refund of any kind.
If you wish to return an item it must follow our Policy above. All returns or package refusals must be authorized and confirmed with Retro Active Arcade Ltd. and be given an RMA number before the return/refusal is made.
If you believe an item you received is defective, please see our Warranty and Returns on Defective Arcade Parts Policy or our General Product Warranty FAQ.
We recommend that every single order be inspected immediately upon receipt. If there is obvious damage to the shipping container, the Purchaser has the right to refuse acceptance by noting this on the shipping documents.
If it is not practical to inspect the package immediately, or in the case of Arcade Machines that could contain hidden damages, we recommend noting "Subject To Inspection" on the shipping documents.
In most cases:
Please see our Shipping Policy Page for full details.

Order Confirmation Emails are automatically sent to the email address provided by the customer when an order is placed. If you did not receive the Order Confirmation Email please check the following:
Due to our policy of fulfilling and shipping most orders the next business day, Change Order Requests are not always possible. With that being said, we will make an attempt to accommodate Change Order Requests where feasible. Change Order Requests will delay the fulfillment of your order by one (1) business day.
In some cases (ie. an automatic discount has been applied to your order) orders are not able to be edited/changed after payment has been made. In these situations the customer may have to place a second order for any missing items in the original order.
Orders that have been fulfilled and a shipping label created cannot be changed or cancelled.
It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that they have included all items needed in their order. As such, we implore our customers to double check their cart to ensure that they have all items required prior to completing their purchase to avoid paying shipping twice and Order Errors.
Unfortunately we cannot honor sale prices on orders placed before a sale was launched.
If you don't want to miss out on exclusive deals, sale announcements or new product launches consider signing up to our Newsletter!
If you order is less than 24 hours old, you may contact Customer Service and request for your order to be cancelled. Orders that are more than 24 hours old are not eligible for cancellation.
If your order has yet to be fulfilled, a cancellation fee of 5% will apply. If your order has been fulfilled and is waiting for pick up or to be packaged for shipping, a restocking fee of 25% will apply.
Orders that have been shipped are not able to be cancelled.
Please provide the following information to our Customer Service team when requesting a cancellation of your order:
Please see our Returns, Refunds and Warranty Policy for full details.
If you accidentally selected "Pick Up In Store" or the wrong shipping service (you wanted Xpresspost but selected Expedited instead) please Contact Us with the Order Number of the order in question with your request.
We are not always able to accommodate these requests, but will make every attempt to do so where feasible. Shipping must be edited manually and added to the order as a line item as Shopify does not allow us to adjust shipping services once the order has been paid for.
Please contact us directly at customerservice@retroactivearcade.ca with your Order Number if you require edits to your order.
Sure! Just go to the product page of the item that you want to be notified about and below the price/add to cart button will be a field for Restock Notifications. Just type in your email address and you'll receive an automated email notification when that item is back in stock.
You will also have the chance to opt in to our newsletter if you are interested in being the first to know about new products, exclusive offers and exciting news! This is of course optional.
We do take Pre-Orders and occasionally special order items for customers if it coincides with an order we are making with one of our suppliers at the time of the request.
We do not make special orders for products that are not related to the types of products we sell. This includes Pinball Parts.
Please be aware that all orders are shipped complete. This means your pre-order/special order will not ship out until all items are in stock, even if your order contains items that we do have in stock.
All Pre-Orders and Special Orders must be pre-paid before the product is ordered from the supplier. Because of this, all Pre-Orders and Special Orders are non-refundable and not eligible for 24 Hour Cancellation.
Arcade Parts Orders are typically fulfilled and shipped out Next Business Day. Orders containing items that have been Pre-Ordered or Specially Ordered will be shipped out when all items are in stock. We will not split shipments unless the customer is willing to pay shipping for two separate shipments.
Please see our Shipping Policy Page for full details.
We ship to many parts of the world. The checkout page will display all shipping services available to you to for Arcade Parts Orders. If you do not see any shipping options available please reach out to our friendly Customer Service department so we can quote you on shipping rates.
For Arcade Machines, see "Where Do You Ship Arcade Machines To?" for details.
We primarily contract Canada Post or UPS for all our parcel services. When able, all parcels will be shipped using the customer's chosen courier and shipping service. When not able to send a parcel via the customer's chosen courier and service, we will ship the parcel using another courier with an equivalent shipping service.
Please see our Shipping Policy Page for full details:
You can track your shipment either by viewing your Order Confirmation Email or visiting your Order Status Page in your account on our website. Both will contain the tracking information you can use on the website of your chosen carrier.
If your item is not showing up, please send us an email and we will be happy to investigate further for you. You can reply to the order confirmation email you received from us when you placed your order.
Please be sure to include your Order Number when inquiring and email us directly at customerservice@retroactivearcade.ca.
Didn't receive the Order Confirmation Email? See "Why Didn't I Get an Order Confirmation Email?"
When your order arrives at your door will depend on several factors such as the shipping service you chose on the checkout page, your location and whether we have all items in stock.
Please see our Shipping Policy Page for full details.
Shipping rates are based on the weight and dimensions of your package as well as your location. You can select your method of shipping on the checkout page and see the associated costs for each method. The carriers used for parcel services have an integrated system on our website that calculates rates for us, we do not control the shipping rates for these carriers.
Please see our Shipping Policy Page for full details.
Couriers have base rates for different shipping zones which are calculated based on the Postal/Zip Code of the receiver. These rates are then adjusted based on the package size and weight by the courier.
This means that even if you are only purchasing one small item, shipping may come out to be more than what you were expecting based on the courier's shipping zone rates - we have no control over this.
In some cases (within Canada only) we can ship items in an envelope with a stamp. The down side is there will be no tracking for this order, and it could take 1 - 3 weeks to arrive depending on where you are located.
Contact Customer Service to inquire if this option is available for the item(s) you wish to purchase.
If an item you have received is damaged, defective or missing upon opening the package, please contact us immediately.
DAMAGES:
If the parcel received has visible exterior damage, make note of this with the delivery driver when accepting the package if able and take pictures. Contact us immediately with your Order Number and the pictures so that we can start a claim through the shipping company. Parcels shipped via Canada Post and UPS are covered for insurance up to $100.00 CAD of the order value included in the shipping prices listed on the checkout page of our website. Please see "Parcel Shipping Insurance" in our Shipping Policy for full details.
If no damage is present on the exterior of the package, please contact us with photos of the damaged item(s) so that we can assess the situation.
MISSING:
If an item is missing from your order, please contact us immediately with your Order Number and a photo of the items you did receive in the original packaging. We will cross reference your order with our stock keeping system and investigate the missing item(s).
DEFECTIVE:
If the item is simply defective, please see the "Warranty and Returns on Defective Arcade Parts" in our Returns, Refunds and Warranty Policy and contact our Customer Service department for further instruction.
NOTE: PLEASE CHECK YOUR PACKAGES AS SOON AS THEY ARRIVE. In order for us to provide assistance with damaged, defective or missing items, customers must contact us within 30 days of receiving their order. We will not be able to send replacements to customers who contact us after 30 Days of receiving the item.
Do no send items back to us without contacting us first to avoid rejected packages and additional shipping fees. Please contact us directly at customerservice@retroactivearcade.ca for instructions first.
If you've received an update on your shipment stating it has been delivered but you haven't actually received it, contact our Customer Service immediately.
As we are the shipper of the package, we must be the one to open a Lost Package Claim on your behalf with the courier.
Investigations can take several business days so please be patient while we work with the courier to resolve the issue.
In the meantime you can do the following:
If you have looked through our gallery as well as Instagram and Facebook Pages and you are not happy with any of the decal themes we offer with our machines for free, we can design a custom decal theme for you.
Custom graphic design for a unique and personal theme is available for an additional fee starting at $750 CAD for up to 10 hours of design time. This includes the time it takes to research images and one (1) revision request. Custom Artwork It is available by special request only at this time.
After 10 hours of design time Custom Artwork Design will be charged at $135 CAD/hour.
Haven't browsed our social media or galleries yet for Decal Themes yet? Check out the links below:
Custom decals are an additional cost starting at $750 CAD for up to 10 hours of design time.
Graphic design for custom decals takes many, many hours to do correctly and professionally. We meticulously design all artwork for decals in-house and we will always let the customer know when we are hitting the end of the minimum $750 CAD fee for design time before charging more.
If you are not comfortable with spending extra for custom decals, but you want artwork we don't offer, you are welcome to design your own decals (or have someone else do the design for you) and we will provide templates for you to do so.
Templates will only be provided once the order has been paid for in full and we have received the required documents for identity verification (only if paying via Credit Card).
Our typical build time for machines is 4 to 6 weeks. In cases where we are busier than usual we will advertise that our build time takes 6 to 8 weeks. Please keep in mind these times are just estimated goals and are not a 100% guarantee. Many factors can impede our build times such as customs, shipping, back ordered items, how busy we are, etc.
Estimated build times based on how busy we are:
All of our arcade systems are for Personal Use only. "For Personal Use Only" means that your arcade system is only for non-commercial and non-profit uses and cannot be used to generate revenue of any kind (cash, admission fees, purchasing tokens, etc).
Commercial Arcade Machines are machines that are used with the intention of generating revenue. This can be in someone's home, a public venue such as a bar, or inside a commercial building. It does not matter where the machine is physically, only if you are purchasing the machine with the intention of generating revenue with it.
Corporate Arcade Machines are typically Arcade Machines that are specifically branded to a company. A Corporate Arcade Machine is not a Commercial Arcade Machine, unless the company is charging money to play the machine in the form of cash, admission fees, purchasing tokens to play, etc.
When you purchase a Personalized Arcade Machine, your build goes through a series of production steps. You will receive emails as your system moves through the build process. Status emails update you as to what phase of the build your system is in. Examples of status emails would include "Cut & Assembled", "Components & Electrical", and everyone's favorite, "Ready for Pickup or Shipment".
Retro Active Arcade does not have multiple storefront locations or hired technicians. That doesn't mean you won't get support when you purchase from us though!
Our arcade machines are manufactured in a way that makes replacing components for warranty repairs extremely easy - so easy in fact that you can do it at home with common household tools and a little bit of guidance from us!
We will be happy to walk you through the process over the phone, email or video call to get you back up and running.
Retro Active Arcade machines are manufactured modularly so as to make at home repairs/installs simple and easy for the customer. We also keep stock of all components installed in our machines.
We do not offer in-house/service calls as we sell these machines all over North America and it is not feasible for us to travel to do repairs. We will however assist our customers over the phone, video chat or email with troubleshooting and installation of replacement parts if required.
We also have numerous videos on our website and YouTube channel that show you the step by step installation and repair processes of many components.
Replacement components will only be provided for free (excluding shipping costs and any damages arising from physical or liquid damages) for machines within their 1 Year Warranty. For machines outside of the 1 Year Warranty, components will still be available for purchase and support will still be available to the customer.
If someone is advertising they are a reseller of Retro Active Arcade Machines BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK AS THIS IS FALSE. Retro Active Arcade does not transfer warranties unless stated in writing prior to ownership changing between Retro Active Arcade Ltd. and the original owner of the machine.
We will not warranty a second hand machine or a machine that has been modified by someone other than a Retro Active Arcade representative.
All Arcade Machines are serial numbered and come with a Certificate of Authenticity and a Warranty Card to identify the original owner of the machine.
Please see our policy on Arcade Machine Warranty Terms for full details.
All game lists are available to view on our website in multiple locations.
JAMMA Board game lists will be able to be seen on the Game List Page as well as individual JAMMA Board product Pages
Our exclusive Retro Active Arcade Game Lists (including Spinner Game List, Light Gun Game List and our newly added Beta Test 5000 Games) can be viewed on our Signature Series Arcade Product Pages.
All game lists are searchable PDF files.
Unfortunately Arcade Machines that have been sold without Light Guns cannot have the guns installed after the machine is built. This can only be done during the production process.
This depends on several factors:
JAMMA Arcade Machines:
Arcade Machines with JAMMA boards can be upgraded by purchasing a new JAMMA board from our JAMMA Game Board Page.
Signature Series Arcade machines (sold 2018-present):
Signature Series Arcade Machines sold in 2018 and after can typically be upgraded by replacing the drive. Contact Customer Service for a quote on upgrading your machine.
Signature Series Arcade Machines (sold pre 2018):
Signature Series Arcade Machines sold before 2018 can only be upgraded in our shop so we will need to physically have the machine to do the upgrade. Contact Customer Service for a quote on upgrading your machine and provide the following information for a faster response:
We ship our Arcade Machines all over North America. We do not ship Arcade Machines outside of North America at this time due to prohibitive shipping costs.
Arcade Machines are shipped using specialized LTL freight carriers. The carrier used will depend on the best quote available at the time, but we typically use Day & Ross and Kindersley Transport. All LTL Freight shipments are booked with the following services unless otherwise specified by the customer:
Arcade Machines are always shipped with tracking when shipping via LTL Carrier unless using the customer's own chosen shipping company (in other words, we did not book the shipment for the Arcade Machine).
Once the shipment has been booked and picked up by the carrier, we will provide the customer with the following information:
The carriers are ALWAYS instructed to contact the customer at least 24 hours before attempting to deliver the freight to arrange a delivery appointment with the customer during regular business hours.
We do everything in our power to provide all the information the customer needs to ensure they can make arrangements to be available for the delivery of their Arcade Machine well ahead of time.
When Arcade Machines are shipped via LTL Carrier and standard packaging, the carrier will cover a dollar amount per pound up to a maximum amount. These amounts vary depending on the LTL Carrier used to transport the shipment.
Standard packaging is when the machine is wrapped and strapped to a pallet with cellophane, foam, cardboard and steel strapping.
To obtain insurance for the full value of the machine, the machine must be crated in addition to the standard packaging.
Crating costs extra and is available by special request only at this time. Crating is subject to material costs and availability.
For full details, please see "Arcade Machine Shipping Insurance" in our Shipping Policy.
All Arcade Machines are shipped via LTL Carrier. Delivery via LTL Carrier is curbside only. Inside Delivery is not available due to liability reasons on the Carrier's part.
When shipping via LTL Carrier, delivery is curbside only. Most locations are eligible for Curbside Delivery. Curbside delivery is not available for the following locations:
In these cases, the machine will be shipped to the nearest Depot or Terminal and the customer will need to either arrange further transportation on their own, or pick up the machine from the Depot/Terminal themselves.
There are two versions of the 2 Player Origin:
The Horizontal Origin comes with 5000 Arcade Games in a Pandora Box DX Special JAMMA Board. This game board is pre-programmed with games, but does support the addition of the following systems:
NOTE: We do not offer this service or support for modifying the Game List outside of the settings menu of the JAMMA board.
The Vertical Origin comes with 516 Arcade Games in a Pandora Box: King of Air 2 JAMMA Board. This game board is pre-programmed with games, but does support the addition of the following systems:
NOTE: We do not offer this service or support for modifying the Game List outside of the settings menu of the JAMMA board.
Unfortunately the Origin does not have the capacity for a larger screen or additional controls such as a trackball or spinner. If you are looking for an Arcade machine with these features, check out any of our Signature Series Arcade machines below:
Both the Horizontal and Vertical Origin's will save high scores and game progress on SOME games, but not all.
These machines will save high scores on games like Pac Man and Donkey Kong as this was a feature available with the original games. These machines will not save high scores on many fighting games as these games never had this feature originally. The same goes for game progress.
In essence, games that originally saved high scores and/or game progress will do so on either the Horizontal Origin or Vertical Origin.
The LED Package upgrade adds the beauty of illumination to your arcade. All of your push buttons and trackball will be illuminated.
The buttons are "static" LEDs which means they will not change color. The trackball is an RGB Trackball and will have multiple colors and color modes.
This upgrade is purely for aesthetics and is optional. It is an additional $125.00 CAD for a Brute and $175.00 CAD for a Monster.
The Spinner & 4 Way Joystick upgrade adds two more controls to your control panel: a dedicated 4 Way Joystick and a Spinner. You will receive an additional sub-list on our 5000 Game List specifically for spinner games.
Dedicated 4 Way Joystick:
This is for games such as Pac Man, Donkey Kong, etc. that only use 4 way movement, as well as games like Discs of Tron which require both a spinner and joystick to use. This joystick is for Player 1 only.
Spinner:This is for games such as Arkanoid, Discs of Tron, Kick, etc. that originally had a spinner dial to play. The spinner is for Player 1 only and will only work in the Spinner Game List.
This upgrade is considered a "functional" upgrade however it is not mandatory as the Trackball that comes included with the Signature Series machines will work in place of a spinner for games such as Tempest, Arkanoid, etc.
This upgrade is an additional $250 CAD.
Our 5000 Game List is now 10,000! This includes the original tried, tested and true 5000 Game List plus 5000 more! The new 5000 Games are currently under Beta Testing only. If you don't want to be a Beta Tester, let us know when you purchase and we'll give you the original 5000 Game List.
Our exclusive Game List is pre-configured and cannot be added to. We have created individual sub-lists within the 5000/10,000 game list that comes standard in our signature series so it is easy for our customers to find the games they love the most. All sub-lists are in alphabetical order and the menu is very easy and efficient to navigate through.
The Signature Series 5000 Game List does not save high scores or game progress as our system is locked down and reboots to its original state upon every shutdown. The reason for this is to keep troubleshooting on our end efficient and feasible. We simply do not have the man-power required for the sheer volume of Technical Support that would be required if our system was open-sourced.
With that being said, many customer's have found that creating a leaderboard next to their machine keeps track of scores well enough and our system does have a pause feature which will allow you to take a break mid-game should you need to. To pause and un-pause your game, hold both Player 1 & 2 Credit buttons down at the same time.
You can upgrade your machine to have 1 or 2 Light Guns, however be aware that these models are not optimal for Light Gun Arcade Games due to the size of screen. We highly recommend taking a look at the Signature Series Raptor if you are really interested in Light Gun Games.
To upgrade to 1 Light Gun on a Brute or Monster, there is an additional cost of $500 CAD.
To upgrade to 2 Light Guns on a Brute or Monster, there is an additional cost of $900 CAD.Unfortunately due to the limited availability of these products we are not able to offer color choices for these items. We will always do our best to match the colors to your theme, but we are limited to the stock the manufacturer of these items has available for purchase.
Both LED upgrades add the beauty of illumination to your arcade.
LED Package Upgrade:
The LED Package Upgrade will illuminated the buttons and trackball of your machine
The buttons are "static" LEDs which means they will not change color. The trackball is an RGB Trackball and will have multiple colors and color modes.
This upgrade is purely for aesthetics and is optional. It is an additional $175 CAD
Cabinet LED Kit:
The Cabinet LED Light Kit adds RGB backlighting behind the screen and under counter lighting (below the control panel). This package comes with a remote so you can change the colors, color modes and power it on and off separate from the machine.
This upgrade is purely for aesthetics and is options. It is and additional $175 CAD.
The Raptor comes with a chrome kick plate. If you want the kick plate to be a different color to better match the overall theme of your machine, you have the option to upgrade to have the kickplate powder coated. There are various colors and shades to choose from.
This upgrade is for aesthetic purposes only and is an additional $100 CAD.
The Raptor is not available as a commercial arcade machine. This machine is intended for home/personal use only.
If you are interested in purchasing a Commercial Arcade Machine take a look at our Commercial Arcades Page where you will find information regarding these machines.
The Raptor has the following dimensions and weight:
Dimensions:
Weight:
The control panel/console of the machine is removeable from the body, however the machine is shipped fully assembled as this is the safest way to transport it. We send along instructions and the tools required to remove the control panel, it takes less than 20 minutes to do!
Horizontal screen orientation is when the monitor is wider than it is tall - probably like your computer monitor is now! You would use this orientation for games like Bubble Bobble, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, etc.
Vertical screen orientation is when the monitor is taller than it is wide - a "portrait" setup, like a phone screen. This would be used for games like PacMan, Donkey Kong, 1942, etc.
Be sure your monitor set up will match your game board!
Cocktail Vertical Boards (Can be used in upright cabinets with vertical mounted monitors)
Upright Horizontal Screen Boards
All video converters sold by Retro Active Arcade are considered "Universal". This means that they will work with most arcades/PCBs, however we are not able to guarantee this due to the number of various different PCBs, power requirements, connections, monitors, etc.
To our knowledge, there are no USB spinners that are compatible with a Multi-Game JAMMA board.
We have a JAMMA Harness Wiring Diagram on our Videos/Diagrams Page!
Before purchasing any components whether individually or in a kit, be sure to do your due diligence and research on the type of games you are going to be playing and what controls are best for the game or majority of games you will have on your machine.
We can give general recommendations based on the type of games you want to play, but we always encourage our customers to take charge of their decisions by making sure our recommendations will suit their needs before buying, as each person's build or application is unique to them.
All JAMMA Board product pages have a link to their Game List. We also have all JAMMA Board game lists that we offer on the Game List Page of our website.
All Game Lists are searchable PDF files.
Short Answer: Yes
Long Answer: It depends...
Most multi-game JAMMA boards are usually interchangeable. This means you can connect different multi-game JAMMA boards to your machine without having to rewire or modify your cabinet. HOWEVER, be sure to check the specs on the JAMMA board before connecting it to your current power supply. Also check that you have the required number of buttons and joysticks to play all the games on the JAMMA board you want to install, as well as the image orientation of the JAMMA board (vertical or horizontal).
While we are not able to provide step-by-step instructions on how to do this, it is fairly simple to do and there are many, many videos and articles out there on how to convert an original arcade cabinet to a multi-game system.
With that being said, we do offer the parts to do the conversion yourself! Many of our Complete JAMMA Arcade Kits are perfect for changing out the components in an Original Arcade Machine to a multi-game JAMMA Arcade.
Some things to be aware of first:
At the end of the day, once an Original Arcade Machine has been modified in any way, it will devalue the cabinet. If you want to keep the value of your Original Arcade Machine, consider building a new cabinet for a multi-game system.
First and foremost, before connecting the power supply to ANY electronics and powering it on please check the following first:
We also have multiple videos on arcade power on our YouTube Channel.
If your power supply is still not providing power, or is not providing correct voltage, check for any damage to the product and contact Customer Service for further instruction.
Recent versions of MAME and Windows have changes which mean it is advisable from the outset to create a custom control file for MAME.
The MAME official documentation for this is here. This also prevents devices from being swapped around on reboot.
The following is an example of the contents of a control file which identify two guns which have previously been configured as ID #1 and ID #2:
<mameconfig version="10">
<system name = "default">
<input>
<mapdevice device="PID_1601" controller="GUNCODE_1" />
<mapdevice device="PID_1602" controller="GUNCODE_2" />
<mapdevice device="ATRAK Device #1" controller="JOYCODE_1" />
<mapdevice device="ATRAK Device #2" controller="JOYCODE_2" />
</input>
</system>
</mameconfig>
Lets look at where these entries come from.
The IDs such as "PID_1601" are part of the ID which Windows generates for all connected devices. Only this part of the full device ID needs to be used as MAME will scan the full string for a match.
The full ID is different for every PC but the "PID_1601" appears on all PCs for gun #1 as this comes from the gun itself.
The "PID_1601" and "PID_1602" refer to the mouse function of the two guns.
The "ATRAK Device #1" and "ATRAK Device #2" refer to the gamepad function of the two guns. This configuration includes these, as buttons/trigger can be configured as gamepad buttons.
These IDs can be seen, if you need to, in the "hardware Properties" of the device in Device Manager or by launching MAME from a command prompt using "MAME -v". But in fact these will always be as shown for guns with IDs 1 and 2.
The control file needs to be saved with an extension of "cfg". The name (without the extension) needs to be added to the Mame.ini file in the line "ctrlr.....". If you don't have a Mame.ini file, it will need to be created using "mame -cc" from a command prompt.
Relevant mame.ini file entries are:
# CORE INPUT OPTIONS
ctrlr <name of your control file>
lightgun 1
joystick 1
multimouse 1
offscreen_reload 1
# INPUT DEVICE OPTIONS
dual_lightgun 0 (this is counter-intuitive but correct!)
Other emulator notes:
Dolphin: In the control settings use Cursor X-, Cursor X+, Cursor Y-, Cursor Y+ rather than the Axis of the mouse.
Extra Check: LED Bar Verify
This is an extra check we have added owing to a few recent reports from customers of mis-aligned LEDs.
Use a digital camera or phone and first make sure it can see infra-red light by aiming a TV remote and check it sees the beam when buttons are pressed. (Some recent phones have IR filters)
Check the LEDs of the bar appear as shown in the picture below, when the camera is held in the approx location the gun will be used in. They should be very bright and the right-hand one slightly dimmer.
If they do not appear as in the picture, remove the screws from the base of the bar and re-check without the case. If this cures the issue the LEDs may be bent too far down. They should be bent approx 16 degrees, so they aim roughly at the gun.
Step 1: Light Interference Check
Disconnect the LED bar so this is disabled.
Aim the gun at the screen and move to all screen areas. There should NOT be any visible cursor movement. If there is any movement this indicates the gun is picking up an extraneous infra-red light source such as sunlight from a window behind the cabinet, a window reflecting in the screen, or a conventional or halogen light within view of the gun, or reflection of a light. Fluorescent/CCFL lamps are not a problem.
Step 2: Range Check
Use the test utility software and open the "Sensor View Check" tab.
Move the gun over all screen areas. The red dot should move. The movement is "backwards" as this is the view which the gun is seeing, not the result of the data moving the mouse pointer.
The dot should be visible and red in color when the gun is moved over all screen areas.
There is also another special check which is useful. When aimed at the bottom center of the screen, the "Visible Points" should show "Two". Both ends of the LED bar need to be seen by the gun at this location otherwise calibration will fail.
Results are as follows:
This pertains to Recoil AimTrak Light Guns only.
If you are experiencing issues with the Recoil on your AimTrak Light Gun please try the following steps:
Let us know what the results are of this test so we can determine what the next step will be.
If you have a Retro Active Arcade machine with Light Guns and you are experiencing issues with the recoil, be sure you are standing at about 4 to 5 feet away from the screen when using the Light Guns. This is the distance we have calibrated the guns at.
Sanwa joystick wiring looks simple enough but how the wires control the directions of the joystick depends on how the joystick is mounted inside your cabinet. Please see the diagram below for instructions on how to wire your Sanwa Joystick depending on which orientation it is mounted into your control panel.
