Effects of COVID-19
Everyone knows COVID-19 has caused a great deal of stress to the economy affecting retailers, manufacturers, suppliers, shipping and so much more. COVID-19 has tested retailer's resilience to the drastic changes in availability and pricing of not only Arcade Parts, but all manufacturing materials.
No one seems to be immune to inflation or supply and demand shortages these days - ourselves and many other retailers and suppliers included. Sanwa Denshi has announced on their official website (translated web page can be seen below) that their prices will be increasing starting November 1st to offset the rise in cost of materials and shipping. This means that our prices will have to increase for Sanwa products, and potentially others as these manufacturers and suppliers choose to raise their prices in the near future.
A Canadian Company
Being a Canadian company, we import many products from overseas and the United States so that our customers have a similar selection of Arcade Parts within Canada as they do from other countries. The cost of shipping product into the country has skyrocketed due to the effects of COVID-19. Shipping couriers have raised their prices and are experiencing delays due to the unprecedented volumes of online shopping and short-staff for nearly two years now.
The effects are felt on every level including currency conversion rates, importing fees, state of emergency tax & peak season surcharges, carbon tax on national & local shipping, packaging, fuel prices and overall availability of products.
Our company and others like us have had to navigate our way through these difficult times. In most cases, we have had to absorb much of the cost to import product so that our customers can continue to enjoy building, modifying and upgrading their own Arcade projects at a reasonable price.
We still want to be able to offer these products to our customers for a reasonable price, however some changes in prices do need to happen so that we can continue to be available for our customers and the Arcade community as other retailers are having to take a similar approach.
